Top Ten Privacy Predictions 2011: Follow-up and Links from Yesterday's Live Web Seminar

Thanks to the hundreds of you that tuned in for our first live web seminar of the new year, "2011 Predictions: Top 10 Privacy Issues" where co-presenter Ken Liao and I looked into the crystal ball to expose the cultural, policy, technology and regulatory trends that will dominate privacy discussions this year! Predictions 2-4: At Least One Major Social Media Site Will Experience a Serious Breach, Evolution of Social Media Policies, More Organizations will Formalize Acceptable Use Policies

Prediction 5: Blended Threats Will Continue to Increase

Prediction 7: Expect a US National Data Breach Notification Law

I have read about the chronology of data breaches and FAQ has cleared my all queries, information is really helpful. But the prediction 6 “Google street view ruffles European feathers” just surprises me. I think the reason described here is absolutely right. Europeans have darker memories of “big government” from the last century than Americans do.

Let us not take our privacy for granted for we do not know when fraudulent people will strike. In a mere act of shredding our personal documents, we can avoid getting victimized by identity theft for even if they resort to dumpster diving, they will not find anything useful from you. Preventing others from accessing your information also includes assuring you that no one else is listening to your private phone conversation.
