Confidential Data Leakage: Most Serious Email Security Threat?
In more informal research news today, we just finished our second LinkedIn poll, asking IT types, "What is the most serious email security threat facing your organization today?" Out of 5 possible responses—Phishing, Spam Volumes, Viruses, Confidential Data Leakage and Regulatory Compliance—"Confidential Data Leakage" edged out "Spam Volumes" with 36% of the vote.
You can see the poll results on LinkedIn here:

The finding that the risk of confidential information leakage via email is the top email security concern (at least among respondents to this particular poll) is very timely, given that we just announced the results of our 6th annual survey on outbound email and data loss prevention concerns. This is a much more detailed survey than the LinkedIn poll, surveying 220 email decision makers at US companies with 1000 or more employees.

And I'll be presenting a web seminar on Wednesday about our findings. Register here (if you can't make the live webinar, you can register anyway -- we send all registrants a link to the webinar replay as soon as its available):
