David Stanley on Properly Scoping Email Encryption, Preventing Data Leakage
David Stanley, Proofpoint's managing director in Europe, recently spoke with SC Magazine writer Dan Raywood about how enterprises should assess their email encryption needs before rolling such technologies out across their entire user base. In the article, David notes that:
“Encrypting everything is not worth it, you end up encrypting messages that will read ‘what do you want for your tea tonight'. You should look to encrypt on the pay grade and then you know that if it is not encrypted it should not go out."
David also notes that ongoing layoffs ("redundancies" as they say in the UK) - resulting from the ongoing global economic downturn - are causing new data loss prevention concerns for companies.
