Sign of the Times: Job/Resume Spam Volume is Up
Like we so often point out around here, spammers and scammers will always use current events and trends as the basis for their communications. The latest manifestation of this is an increase in spam related to "business opportunities," jobs and resumes as spammers attempt to prey on the jobless or those insecure about their employment.
The Proofpoint Attack Response Center reports that "send us your resume" type spam is significantly up in recent days. Click the thumbnail image for an example. Typical subject lines include:
Apply for this great position as a customer service today!
This is a sales position that is NOT commission-based
Make your own hours, $300-$400 wk
Flexible schedule working from home!
All you need to do is make the sale! No cold calls!
20 openings of sales assistants. Temporary offer, hurry up!
Need I mention that Proofpoint does not recommend responding to such messages?
