Are You Losing Confidence in Email?
Proofpoint's Australian office has been conducting regular surveys of email/IT professionals in Australia and SC Magazine reported on the latest findings from Proofpoint's latest "SAfE" (Securing Assets for the Enterprise) survey today.
Most interestingly to SC Magazine, survey respondents expressed a high level of concern around the issue of false positives (legitimate messages inadvertently blocked as spam). 46 percent of respondents said they are not certain that they are receiving all genuine (non spam) emails sent to them.
Additionally, more than 72% of respondents reported that spam is a growing problem for their organizations. The survey also found that many organizations have been impacted negatively by various email issues including 20% that say they have lost business, 20% saying they suffered security or privacy breaches, and more than half reporting that staff productivity was negatively impacted.
SC Mag's got the story and quotes from Gerry Tucker, Proofpoint's managing director in Australia:
Link: Businesses lose confidence in email
My experience has been that Australian IT professionals have pretty similar experiences to their US counterparts. In our annual survey of outbound email and data loss prevention issues, we compared findings from the US as well as Australia and Europe and found that most email security issues are more-or-less universal.
What's your biggest problem with email today? Feel free to let me know in the comments.
